Jobs list Summer 2018

Here's a list of river-system related jobs for us to do over the summer.

LAST UPDATED 16/8/2018

• Investigate river system water loss (IN PROGRESS).
  • Patch the area by the sump again. (DONE).
  • Attempt to patch the leaky section of river (DONE).
  • Inspect the gutters. (DONE).
  • Gutter by bog garden isn't giving much water to river. (FIXME).
  • Gutters behind the railway room are leaky/clogged. (FIXME).
  • Gutter by stage butts is missing a terminator - water can flow out of end of the gutter (FIXME).
• Install new waterbutts (DONE).
• Plumb new water butts (DONE).
• Connect them to the existing wendy street butts. (IN PROGRESS)
  • Blue pipes & ball valve have been dry-fitted. (DONE)
• Identify cause of leak/water seepage by sump (IN PROGRESS).
  • Have patched brickwork up.
  • Seems to leak near blue pipe.
  • Coat area by blue pipe in quick dry cement, TBC if problem solved. (IN PROGRESS)
• Poss. run a pipe under the walkway through the hole by the bog garden (prevents possibility of leak there).
• Poss. drain/partially drain river to identify leaky areas.
  • One section is known to be low - see other related spring/summer topics).
• Poss. fix more leaks by bog garden (level is low).
• Put extra floats under probes to make sure they float well (DONE).
• Put mesh around the probes to stop crud getting stuck in the floats (TBC).

Note: Software related jobs aren't listed here - they're in a to-do list that keeps changing, so I'll just summarise new features as they come out.

Have I missed anything? And what shall we do with the Winter jobs list?

Hello

Today Terry and I installed the support framework for the 5 barrels behind the new stage in Wendy Street.

Tomorrow I'd like to:
Reinforce the barrel platform from underneath (as a precaution) using whatever material we can lay our hands on. There will be protruding screws under the platform so we need to be careful.
Install the barrel interconnecting plumbing up to and including a ball valve.

Hamish, the cement work you did yesterday is having an effect, more water appears to the pooling there, which I think is good if we can persuade it to run off into the sump.

Good work this week!

The new water butts area (behind the Wendy Street stage) now has plinths for the barrels to sit on, a reinforce platform and plumbing connecting them all together; good job.

It all went swimmingly today. Note that I won't be in next Tuesday - I'm attending my sister's graduation. I have updated the list above.
