Well... I wasn't getting the button with the pen icon on it, but now I am.

Strange.

Advance notice that I'll be backing up and upgrading the software for these forums soon. I'll post another message just before the downtime. Around 15-30 minutes of downtime is expected.

Okay, I was delayed but the update is now complete.

Terry, could you perhaps take over with doing occasional forum updates please?

Hamish,

Not a problem. Can you point me at the procedure and also how you know that updates are available?

Announcements can be subscribed to here: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewforum.php?f=14

Or you can check the admin control panel every now and then - it tells you when updates are available.

As for the procedure, this was always a sticking point because there are multiple different ways to do it, and each place tells you something different.

I personally follow the "Full Package" instructions available on the Updates page in the admin control panel. I'm about to update my support forum, so I will take a screenshot for you and put it here.

Hamish,

I presume that I have to register on that Forum, (ie not use the WMT Forum credentials).

Yes, you'd have to register on that forum. You may also be able to use RSS or Atom to subscribe (https://www.phpbb.com/community/index.php).

I will be upgrading the forum shortly, so there will be approximately 30 minutes of downtime from 11AM onwards.
