Hello

For this weeks jobs I've procured:
1 off 90 degree elbow joint so we can complete the water pipe across the rear of the Railway room.
2 off 10kg tubs of fast setting, waterproof cement, to fill the cracks in the river beds. Note that the minimum working temperature is 5℃.

Terry, do you want the ends of the armoured ethernet cable made off, and it so do you want plugs or sockets fitted?

Penri,

Providing that the last few cms of the cable is flexible enough (after the armour is removed) to plug into a Pi or Ethernet switch, then plugs will be fine.

Terry

We'll take a look at the probable end points when we're next in and go from there.

Hello

I've now short listed a couple of pumps for the Sump to Wendy Street (installed in Sump) and Wendy Street to New Butts Farm (installed near Wendy Street butts) pumping roles. They are both:

8,000 l/hr fixed rate pumps (in the same class as the yellow Karcher pump)
Suitable for both submersible and dry installation and specifically designed for ponds
Sub-£100 in price (around £80)

BUT

They are mains powered

The DC pumps I found in the same class were significantly more expensive at >£120 and all the examples I found were either dry or submersible.

I'd like to stick with one pump type, hence the choice, for commonalities sake; as a temporary measure the shortlisted pumps could also stand-in for the Circulation Pump, if that was to go down, without variable speed of course.

Penri,

I assume that we would need to control these in the same way as the current Butts pump? If so, both Sump Pi and (Wendy House) Butts Pi would need level translation to ~19 V to drive the SSR.

Not a problem; we just need to bear this in mind when we specify the final version of the Interfaces Board.

Terry

Yes a SSR would be the way to go I think.

That's easy enough to do in software as well - sounds good.

Hello,

I thought I'd update this list to show progress and priorities.

River bed [On-hold for the moment due to frog spawn in the river, Hamish moved some of it into the bog but more has appeared since]
• Clean river bed - In Progress
• Identify and deal with leaks - Hamish start on 6/2/18.
• Maintain water levels - On-going

New Butt Farms

Rear of Lady Hanham building [On hold pending completion of tasks vital for re-opening of WMT for season]
3 groups of 5 barrels (2 groups at end of path, 1 group between Lady Hanham building and Model Railway building)
• Location
◦ Barrels
◦ Valves
◦ Controls
• Ground work / support structures
◦ Mortar concrete blocks in place
• Identify and purchase materials
◦ Pipework / joints
◦ Valves
◦ Trellis between Lady Hanham building and Model Railway building
• Installation

Gazebo
1 Group of 5 barrels
• Install guttering
• Locations
◦ Barrels
◦ Valves
◦ Controls
• Identify and purchase materials
• Installation
• Intranet antenna [Moved up a priority level]
◦ Tree branches removed to accommodate antenna mast, weatherproof box mounted to house electronics associated with WMT intranet (and later water control), cable access holes drilled and glands fitted.
◦ Internal layout of weatherproof box agreed and parts procured.
◦ Internal mounting plate required (Penri)
◦ Install and commission

Trench [Complete]
• Mark out route - Done
• Clear existing gravel - Done
• Dig trench - Ground Breaker / Drill hired via Stuart for 13Feb18 - Done
• Identify and purchase materials - Done
◦ Pipe / joints - Pipe laid, right angle joint for rear of Railway room outstanding.
◦ Gravel - Ordered through Stuart 31Jan18 - Done but further material required to complete
• Lay pipe / ethernet - Done
◦ Pipe and ethernet cable laid in trench on bed of gravel and covered by gravel. Depth to be determined. - Done plus extra MDPE pipe laid through which additional cable can be pulled, "ramps" at end of trench need to be completed

Rear of Wendy house - Mounting posts for pipes and control box concreted into ground. New Wendy house assembled and in place.
• Edit by Hamish: Try to get the old system operational (poss. after 13 Feb 2018 when wendy house should be gone).
• Site for pump / valves / controls - Pump ordered 08Mar18
• Location of Ethernet switch
• Identify and purchase hardware
• Installation

Sump - I would really like to get the Wendy House butts back on line before WMT reopens but see below
• Tidy up plumbing and sump house
• Identify and install new pump - Pump ordered 08Mar18
• Add control for new pump (if different from old) - Pump will be mains powered, existing SSR / control S/W should continue to work
• Make new sump removable door to show off sump contents. [Existing door modified to make it fit better]

Sump control ‘Green” box
• Prepare and Paint

There are numerous tasks which have to be done before WMT is ready to reopen; some like the Intranet, Quarterback / Minster sound system directly and window re-installation; impact one or more of us directly, other will take our time because there will be no one else to do them. We'll need to pitch in where we can and pick up on the water system when the dust settles.
