Autumn/Winter November and onwards 2017 deployment(s)

Post by hamishmb »

Hi.

I came in this morning and updated our river system software to revision 5488c56 (https://github.com/wmtprojectsteam/rive ... 45068c5385), which fixes formatting in the levels files, and adds the -t, --type option to the usage() function in universal_standalone_monitor.py.

I also downloaded the readings and logs, which are posted here. I haven't had time to check them, but everything seems to have been okay, so they're probably fairly boring :) I deleted the old logs and readings so the next ones should be all in the new format and smaller.

Update - just had a quick look. Nothing too eventful here.

The ControlSystem_Levels.txt file creates some weird patterns but is more or less unreadable, but as the format has been fixed, the next readings should be good :)

Thanks Hamish. We can monitor these for another week or so; until we upgrade the Butts with the modified Magnetic Probe. Hopefully they'll stay boring so we can progress to the next iteration of the system fairly seamlessly.

Hopefully :)

The software doesn't support that ^ yet, so it may be longer than a week before we're actually making use of the probe XD Right now I'm focusing on documentation, but after that I'll get started on it.

Hello

The float for the back-up probe (the one recently removed from the sump) will start manufacture shortly. I managed to get the probe apart without damaging it and was able to try out the probe with a ring magnet, it worked fine.

Hello

OK on the subject of the ButtsPi:

I've completed the internal cable, to fit inside the ButtsPi box, and the external cable, connecting the box to the probe.
We'll need to remove the box to drill an hole for the connector and allow Terry to wire up the cable form.
I expect the float back around the 16th.
I'm away from the 16th to the 19th

So I'd like to suggest we remove the ButtsPi box on Tuesday 14th, I can drill the hole(s) before giving it to Terry and we can re-fit it on Tuesday 21st. Hamish does that give you enough time to get the software ready for trialling?

I'm going out now but will pick up the yeas or nays later.

Hmm, perhaps. As long as you aren't changing the pin numbers, you can install the hardware and then I'll update the software later to make use of the extra hardware, that would be fine :)

Update:

I will probably have time; I just finished the documentation ages ahead of my schedule :)
