The software for our small deployment is complete!
Re: The software for our small deployment is complete!
Hamish,
I'm assuming from your disappearance that your illness has got worse. Let me know when you feel well enough to make the exchange.

Sorry Terry, I didn't get notified!
How about Saturday afternoon?
I haven't done status IPs, but that's a good idea

Re: The software for our small deployment is complete!
Is that Saturday afternoon for the exchange or Saturday afternoon to get together?

Re: The software for our small deployment is complete!
For exchanging? I'm still ill but getting better fast, so Tuesday for deployment I may be better, but it's possible I can do Sunday if all is well
Is 2 PM good for you?

Re: The software for our small deployment is complete!
Hamish,
A question for you which is slightly off-topic, but could ultimately become important.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation have just announced that Raspbian has been updated to a completely new version; see https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspbian-stretch/. Our practice in the past is that once a system is deployed we make no attempt to update or upgrade the software to avoid the possibility of incompatibilities. In other words; if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
However, we are nowhere near final deployment and this release has better handling for different Users, which may become useful later when we maybe will want to run some processes under different usernames (the GUI for example). I'm think that we should at least consider upgrading to Raspbian Stretch so that we get all the latest bug fixes and enhancements while we are still in full development.

Yeah I think we should upgrade, but should I try on my Pi first? Because the card readers are flaky it may be better for me to upgrade them using my PC and qemu to emulate a pi.
Shall we meet at model town?

Sorry. What card readers are flaky? One of the Pis does have a bit of a problem if you try to write the whole of an SD Card on it, but I've never had any problem upgrading it using:hamishmb wrote:Yeah I think we should upgrade, but should I try on my Pi first? Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
I'm slightly confused. When do you mean? For what purpose?hamishmb wrote:Shall we meet at model town?

My Pi tends to corrupt the card if I do a large update with it.
So I can give you the Pics
