(August 19th 2019 onwards) River System Status
(August 19th 2019 onwards) River System Status
Hello
I thought it was a good idea to start a new Status topic at he original was getting very large.
To kick this one off please find attached the readings taken from the RPi plus summarised observation on the water situation today.

Re: River Status from Aug19
This morning, butts full WButts float switch floating, all RPi’s report normal operation. River 2 & 5 up and operational.
Circulation pump and river stopped, sump < 200mm.
Soft reset of Gate Valve and WButt ineffective.
About to apply master reset.

Re: River Status from Aug19
Master reset and associated probe waggling successful.
Gate valve now open, circulation pump on.

Re: River Status from Aug19
The gate valve was unresponsive earlier today, but after a reboot (and re-seating the Wendy Butts ethernet cable!) all is working fine. According to the log, the gate valve was responding until yesterday, and I think we can probably blame bugs in the sockets code for it going wrong. I aim to write tests and fix issues in the sockets code shortly.
Attached are the latest logs.

Re: River Status from Aug19
Had a quick look at the reading this evening. concentrating mainly on the depth probes.
The results from the Sump and Stage probes, Sump/M0 and G6/M0, look good in so far as the values progress nicely up and down their scales in 25mm steps with minimum discontinuity.
The Wendy probe is not as well behaved, if you ignore the single entry files G4/M0-2019-08-01 15/36/14, G4/M0-2019-08-01 15/37/05 and G4/M0-2019-08-06 08/24/26 things start off promisingly in G4/M0-2019-08-06 08/26/00 and G4/M0-2019-08-06 09/44/27 with the readings changing, albeit in 100mm steps but showing no discontinuities.
G4/M0-2019-08-13 09/44/28 starts off OK then throws in a couple of 75mm readings. Ignoring these the other valves do step up and down (in 100mm steps) with no discontinuities.
Now we get to G4/M0-2019-08-20 07/57/10, which probably resulted from my hard resetting the system on the morning of the 20th. There are some signs of reasonable behaviour interspersed with some really strange stuff.
I can’t explain it so though it was worth sharing the observations.
Excellent work on the Hanham butts plumbing today, thank you both.

Re: River Status from Aug19
Good to know. I'm glad most of them are working as expected. I'm not entirely sure why they sometimes seem to get anomalous readings. It may be something to do with polling the A2D more often than needed - I'll change this in our next deployment and see if that fixes things.
It did occur to me that we never opened the valves - the last part of the assembly that we glued yesterday could be leaky, but we wouldn't know yet unless I'm getting confused. If so, I'll pop in and check on Thursday/next Tuesday to make sure it's okay.
