64-Bit Version of Raspberry Pi OS

Post by TerryJC »

The Raspberry Pi Foundation have just released a 64-Bit Version of Raspberry Pi OS (see https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/raspbe ... os-64-bit/). I'm not suggesting that any of the WMT Pis should be updated yet (most are incompatible anyway), but we should be aware that it is an option.

At some future time, this could be used for the VPN Server, the Visitor GUI and the Minster Music Pi. I doubt if the upgrade would make any discernable difference to the Minster Music Pi, but the other two devices might benefit.

I think that's very reasonable. It should improve performance for those systems, as long as the RAM usage isn't too much higher. I guess RAM usage isn't much of a concern for us though as I don't think any of the programs we run use much RAM as it stands.
